U.S. Embassy, Saigon

Located at XS 863-922 on Thong Nhat Boulevard, Gia Dinh province, III Corps. A small VC sapper squad of nineteen men from the C-10 VCCity Sapper Battalion blew a hole in the wall of the U.S. Embassy Compound on the first night of Tet 1968. Within six hours all of the VC were dead. Contrary to press reports at the time, the VC never entered the chancery building. They managed to kill two U.S. Army MPs and a Marine Guard before the embassy security force killed most of them. The few survivors were killed by men from Company C, 1st Battalion 502nd Infantry (Airborne) 101st Airborne Division.

The Embassy building was a rather ugly structure, even by Vietnamese architectual standards.
